Richard Townshend Bickers volunteered for the R.A.F. at the outbreak of World War II and served, with a Permanent Commission, for eighteen. His experience has greatly shaped his writing career, during the course of which he has written more books about the R.A.F. and its predecessor, the R.F.C., than any other author, living or dead. Born in India and educated in England, he has travelled the world and lived in many different countries. He speaks and writes nine European and four oriental languages, and does his own research by interview and correspondence and in foreign archives. In addition to his novels, he has also written articles, short stories, and radio plays.

Generally, writing a review of one of Mr. Bickers' many books is akin to preaching to the converted. My greatest problem is remembering which books I have read. This applies to Ian Rankin's many books too. And other writers......In fact this is a second book, in which Wingco Roddy is put in charge of a cunning plan to stop the wicked Huns developing and making an instrument which will render their artillery super-accurate.
Rather a lot about the relationship between R's sister and a Canadian pilot in R's squadron-a mate- although R can be a bit mean at times.
I happily gobbled it all up and if you are into this sort of stuff -well, so will you.
Occasionally there is a bleat from someone that this or that book is better or worse than another, but really you either like or you don't.
